All about the Moon Festival (關於中秋節)
The Moon Festival is on August 15th of the lunar calendar.
On that day, there is always a full moon in the sky.
In Chinese custom, a full moon means family reunion.
Because of this, the Moon Festival is a time for family reunions.
On this day, many families enjoy watching the full moon together.
Some families will bake large cakes, called moon cakes.
Each member of the family will eat a piece of the cake to show their unity.
Some moon cakes have salted yolks in them.
When we slice a moon cake, we can see a salted yolk in the center.
It looks just like a full moon!
People share moon cakes with their friends and relatives.
The Moon Festival is also the season of pomelos.
The pomelo symbolizes prosperity.
On this day, many children use pomelo peels to make hats and
they wear them for fun.
